Here's a proper look at my first pastel.

I've been writing a children's book based on a little character I made up about three years ago, Little Medusa. I was playing with the idea of putting her in a setting with other little Greek Gods. I had a lot of fun comming up with 'Little' versions of all the classics.

Here's Aphrodite and Hera, with a little bit of my sock too.

This is Athena's owl. He was just so cute I had to show someone!

Maybe the Gods and Godesses thing will be for another project. I think it's funnier for little Medusa to be in a completely normal world, and have her be the oddball.

And this is me second pastel ever! More tarot cards, more circus theme. I think I have enough done to start submitting the to companies.

The perils of taking pictures of your work on a windy day.

I finally taped it down.This is my first pastel, i think I'll be doing more of them because I can't paint right now. I'm in the middle of moving and right now I'm in New Mexico. Anyways, I liked doing it and it's so much faster than painting. I'll post further forays into pastels soon.

This and he are making me want to try pastels. I never really have them a chance.

With my upcomming move, I've been painting up a storm. I'd rather use up all my canvas than haul it there or throw it away. Here are two of a lot more new paintings.

I'm moving to Los Angeles at the end of March, so I'm having an art and things sale. Please let me know if you need directions.

This is a painting I did for Christmas a couple of years ago, Happy Holidays everyone!

Just a quick update! I have been a busy girl lately. This weekend I sat in Barnes and Noble for hours (I swear the employees were giving me dirty looks) copying publishers/addresses/art driectors from any printed material I could find. I ended up with over one hundred. Now I'm starting to send out my beatiful mailers!

This comming monday I'm also lecturing 7th grade english students on how to be an illustrator. So I'm prepating for that, 108 students. I'm really quite nervous.

I'm working on two paintings at the moment. One is a sample piece, a religious painting. The second is an experiment, a self portrait on gold leaf. Painting on the leaf is very slippery, there's nowhere for the paint to absorb into. I like how it looks, though. Be forgiving like I said they're not even close to being finished.

I think the title says it all. To go with my new website I decided to print out a whole new physical portfolio. A month or so ago I bought Staples brand ink, I have an epson printer and I usually buy epson ink, but I'm pretty thrifty so I dedided to try it. Well I learned my lesson today. On the left, print with a cartridge of epson ink running out. On the right, a brand new cartridge of staples ink.

I'm also designing a mailer using my favorite painting of the moment. When I'm close to finished I'll post that too.

I get a lot of questions about how a painting comes about. So here's a step by step, from start to finish on how the prosess goes. I decided to do this because my sword swallowing piece is the first painting I've done where I've taken pictures of the steps I do.
